CCHA Resident Recognition Spotlight

Here at Carroll County Housing Authority we currently have over 125 fabulous residents, and we would love to get to know each one of you a little better. Thus, we would like to begin a Resident Recognition Spotlight article for our monthly newsletter.

Everyone (including our Carroll Apartments kiddos) has a story, and we want to hear more about yours. For some of our residents, they may only know their fellow residents in passing. For others, they may already have formed a long-lasting friendship. Either way, wouldn’t it be wonderful to put a name to a face, or to learn a few new interesting facts of their life? How fun!

The spotlight article would be a wonderful tool for both CCHA residents and staff to connect. We would like to feature cool interesting stories, or just fun facts of our resident’s lives. They could include your family, hobbies, favorite memory, goals in life…..the possibilities are endless.

If you are interested in participating, please contact the CCHA office at 815-273-7081 for more details. We would love to hear from you, and feature you in one of our upcoming newsletters!

2021 Illinois NAHRO Poster Contest

“A picture is worth a thousand words,” Fredrick Barnard 1921

Illinois NAHRO (National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials) is partnering with North Central Regional Council of NAHRO (NCRC) and National NAHRO to promote the “What Home Means to Me” Contest. The poster contest provides an opportunity for children residing in affordable housing and community developments to reflect the national theme of “What Home Means to Me.” This is an important way for the children of our communities to have their voices heard with policy makers at all levels.

Youth who submit posters must be in grades K-12. The age selection categories are as follows: Elementary: K to 5th grade; Middle: 6th to 8th grade; and High: 9th to 12 grade.

Winners of the state contest entries will be submitted by IL NAHRO to NCRC for the regional competition. NCRC will then select three winners—one from each age category—and will forward those winners to the national competition in Washington, D.C.

National prizes will include 12 winners to receive a $100 gift card. The grand prize cover winner will also receive an iPad and a framed copy of their original artwork. The cover winner and one legal guardian will also receive a tour of Capitol Hill and attend NAHRO’s 2022 Washington Conference in Washington, D.C. where he or she will be honored.

Any of our Carroll Apartments children interested in this wonderful opportunity should contact the CCHA office at 815-273-7081, as soon as possible, for the poster contest entry rules. The deadline for submission of posters is Friday, March 19, 2021.
